Use Guide: Breakthrough Experience
Keep your eyes closed!
Often, people cannot break through because they become so distracted and engulfed by the world around them as it changes and morphs. While it may be tempting to look around and watch the beauty and weirdness as it unfolds, this is not a good method for reaching a breakthrough state. That use has its place and its own experience entirely. So, KEEP YOUR EYES CLOSED! See with your mind's eye, not your eyes. Ignore the world around you because you are, after all, attempting to leave it to experience something greater. For some, this may even mean using a blindfold. This is not an uncommon practice among serious DMT users. If you can't keep yourself from looking around, consider this option. Go to the darkest room you can find and turn the lights off. Focus internally. You may find it almost irresistible to open your eyes. You may feel overwhelmed by what you are experiencing and you may think that you want to open your eyes to escape. If you can press through the brief moments of anxiety and the feelings of being overwhelmed you will find such immense experience on the other side.

Separate yourself from noise.
Loud noises can be even more distracting than vision. An unexpected noise can startle you and that will be an almost instant deal breaker most of the time. Even small noises can become amplified and exaggerated while under the influence of DMT. Repetitive sounds can really be a distraction and a source of confusion. The last thing you want while you are trying to breakthrough is to be wondering, "what was that sound?" What you may easily recognize as a squeaky floor while in normal consciousness may be completely baffling to you while this molecule dominates your mind. There are multiple ways to combat unwanted noise. Though absolute silence is preferred, it is not always possible in this modern world. If you live in a city or suburbia, you may be unable to escape the constant noises of human civilization. If you find it necessary, using headphones and music can be a great way to overcome this issue. However, not just any music will do. Instrumental music with a calming, meditative sound is typically best. For the experienced user, binaural beats and tones can be greatly enhancing but this practice is not recommended for beginners. Ear plugs/muffs are a cheap and effective way to drastically reduce noise without needing to add music. For beginners, silent darkness is the best starting point.
